Introducing our very first meme T-shirt!

Inspired by a timeless Deaf classic joke from our pop-up book, this design features a close-up of King Kong's face as he becomes smitten with the lady in his hand. Drawn to her beauty, he expresses his desire to marry her through American Sign Language (ASL), signing "ME WANT MARRY," which in ASL structure translates to "I want to marry you" in English. However, in his excitement, his signing accidentally squashes the lady, as the ASL sign for "MARRY" involves clapping hands. King Kong and the lady in our design are Deaf, adding a playful twist to this hilarious scenario. Don't miss out on this unique and amusing T-shirt that celebrates Deaf culture and humor designed by the very same deaf illustrator from our pop-up book, Salvador Sanchez!

For washing instructions, please follow these steps to ensure the longevity of your unisex tri-blend T-shirt, composed of 50% polyester, 25% cotton, and 25% rayon:

  1. Turn the shirt inside out before washing and drying to protect the print from fading.
  2. If handwashing, avoid rubbing. Instead, use cold water and a gentle cycle. Do not bleach, twist, or iron on the print.
  3. Air drying is recommended for best results. Alternatively, you can use a low setting on your dryer and then hang it to fully dry.

Got questions?

Will the author consider adding voiceover to the videos to encourage a wider audience to engage with this book?

That's a great suggestion; however, the author's primary purpose was to create the book for deaf individuals, similar to audiobooks for hearing people. The book is an authentic way to experience ASL signers without voices, following the bilingual approach of ASL and English. It provides an excellent opportunity to delve into the world of the Deaf, allowing readers to understand how they read and write in English while also expressing themselves through ASL. Enjoy!
